VIDEO: Sophomore – Shallow Grave

Away from his usual role of fronting alt rock outfit Decade and under a guise for his solo work, Bath based singer/songwriter and producer Sophomore (or, Alex Sears) has dropped a video for ‘Shallow Grave’, which premiered via DIY last week and is the lead single from his debut solo album, ‘God Save My Beating Heart’.

You can stream and watch the video for ‘Shallow Grave’ below:

Speaking of the meaning behind the song, Sears explains, “‘Shallow Grave’ is about finding someone that you love and accepting in your head that you’re going to be the reason that it falls apart, because the other person is so pure. It’s that helpless feeling that everyone probably gets at some point, like ‘this person is amazing, how will I sabotage it this time?’ and that terrifying thought has been responsible for a lot of the record, lyrically speaking. The ocean projections in the video represent that suffocating, drowning feeling.”

His debut solo album, ‘God Save My Beating Heart’, is expected to see a release later this year. More details will be confirmed as it develops.
