TRACK-BY-TRACK: The Dreamer Within – This Is Not Our Home
September 30th, 2016
Exeter’s answer to the metalcore titans of America is here in the form of The Dreamer Within who’ve got a grand mix of belting breakdowns and electronic beats. Fans of Issues and Memphis May Fire will want to get ahold of their debut EP ‘This Is Not Our Home’ and we caught up with the band for a run through the record to find out the story behind of every track.
‘Origins’ is all about breaking out of stereotypes and labels that you get stuck with and being yourself but also about rendering what it means to be human and not to forget your origins.
‘Purge’ was written about us all being part of something and working together to realise that life is more than just going through the motions and harnessing all the hate and negativity in the world.
This song is predominantly about rising up to those who try to manipulate and control who you are and to not let anyone stand in the way of your goals, everyone deserves the opportunity to make something of themselves but every once and a while you have to fight for what you believe in.
04.) THE CASTLE
‘The Castle’ is effectively a song about non-reciprocated love, the overwhelming burden of pretending and how you can see someone still feels for you what you no longer see in them.
The constant reminder that no matter what, time is always trickling away so make the most of it while you have it and always use your time wisely and never wish it away as you only get one chance at life
‘This Is Not Our Home’ is out now and you can order it online digitally via the band’s BandCamp (here).
