With the long road to recovery still ongoing for The Ghost Inside following their tragic bus crash on November 11th 2015 whilst travelling on Highway 180, which also took the lives of the drivers of the two vehicles involved, guitarist Zach Johnson has appeared to faced a setback on his road to health, which may result in him facing what will be his eleventh surgery since the traffic accident.
The alarm has came from a recent x-ray that Johnson went for to check on his recovery progress, which has identified that his femur hasn’t yet healed. This could be due to an infection, and the guitarist is now undergoing some further tests, which he claims will see him “likely end up in surgery again.”
Johnson shared the news via his official Instagram account with a picture of the x-ray in question. You can check out the Instagram post below:
Went in for a check up on my pelvis/hip. Then this came out of nowhere. Turns out my femur hasn't healed, could be due to infection, or just bad luck. They're setting up an array of tests, which will more than likely end up in surgery again. Which would make it my 11th procedure. Life loves throwing curveballs, it's just about how you handle them. The love and support from my brothers in the band, family, friends, and all of you means more to myself and the others than you'll ever know. Keep swinging.
For those who wish to help the band at this difficult time, a GoFundMe page (here) has been set up to help fund and contribute. Another GoFundMe campaign has also been set up to benefit the family of the band’s deceased bus driver, Greg Hoke (here).
