Five-piece Brighton alt rockers River Becomes Ocean, who consist of Marvin McMahon (vocals/keys), Danny Snow (guitar/vocals), Ben Bartup (guitar), and Dorian Neidhardt (drums) have gradually become a bigger name in the alt rock scene, after releasing their debut EP ‘The World Around Me’ back in 2013. The release gave them brilliant opportunities to tour with bands like Funeral For A Friend and Silverstein, and ‘December’ should be no less fruitful.
Compared to their previous outing, this next installment has stepped it up a huge level. ‘December’ could very understandably be compared to the likes of post-‘Sempiternal’ era Bring Me The Horizon; there are definitely prominent influences running throughout the EP, and that isn’t a bad thing AT ALL.
The EP ends on and absolute gem titled ‘For Now’, which is a definite stand out track on the EP,a and features a female vocalist, and the contrast between McMahon‘s voice and the guest feature work so well together and that definitely makes the song that extra bit more beautifully heart wrenching.
