Rating:

Like a thunderous collision between the swaggering assault of Beartooth and the bombastic pop smarts of A Day To Remember, ‘Closure’ is a brief yet bold statement from Harrogate four-piece Blood Youth, sustaining their momentum from a fruitful 2015 and suggesting a band intent on making even more of splash in the next twelve months.

Tearing into four short, sharp bursts of incendiary rock ‘n’ roll, the likes of ’24/7′ and the steamrolling hardcore antics of ‘Mood Swing’ may sound slightly familiar among a scene brimming with Every Time I Die and He Is Legend copycats, yet Blood Youth offset any gripes about creativity with their riotously infectious attack, burning through the EP’s twelve minute running time with the turbocharged abandon of delinquent teenagers.

Bowing out all too soon with the closing title-track’s big chorus bluster, ‘Closure’, perhaps due to its brevity, is a thoroughly satisfying dose of modern southern-tinged savagery. A full-length record will most certainly require the band to expand on their template somewhat, yet for now, there’s very little to dislike, and much to love about Blood Youth.
