With much online speculation circling on the future of American rock favourites Foo Fighters, drummer Taylor Hawkins has confirmed that the band will be going on “indefinite hiatus” following a recent interview with Artisan News.
Jokingly coining the term a “ihateus” for the band’s break, Hawkins said; “We’re on ihateus right now. We’re on an indefinite ihateus… not because we don’t love each other, or don’t want to make music together. We did so much in the last five or six years — we as a band could go into the studio tomorrow and have just as much fun as we ever had, but I think the world needs a break from us for a little while.”
Along with this, as a joking stab back at the ongoing rumours of the band planning to part ways and allegations that frontman Dave Grohl plans to go ahead with a solo career instead, the band have created a comedic video of these events taking fold, which sees Grohl in the studio with Butch Vig making “hip music” and performing songs titled ‘Free To Be Me’ and ‘Phoney Baloney’, and the other band members wanting to trial out new vocalists, including Phil Collins, Diplo, and Justin Bieber.

The band previously took an extended break from 2008 until 2011, returning with the Grammy Award winning record, ‘Wasting Light’. The band’s latest LP, ‘Sonic Highways’, was released in 2014.
