February 18th, 2016
During last night’s NME Awards, which took place at the O2 Academy in Brixton, London, Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes destroyed fellow attendees Coldplay‘s designated table at the event. Sykes jumped on the band’s table during their performance of recent hit ‘Happy Song’, after collecting the NME Innovation Award, which collapsed within seconds. You can watch a video of this happening below:
The above video was shot by fashion blogger and YouTuber, Zoe London.
Despite some minor turmoil regarding Coldplay allegedly copying their album artwork, Bring Me The Horizon have denied this act being of protest towards the band.
Sykes has commented, “I had no sound in my ears so I thought ‘Well, there might be sound out there.’ There weren’t sound out there so when I came back there was a table, which I got on. There wasn’t any sound on there, but it was a bit more energetic up there. It was in no way a protest against Coldplay.”
Keyboardist Jordan Fish also added, “I don’t think [Oli] was aiming for Coldplay. It was just whoever was nearest, it [just] happened to be Coldplay.”
After speaking to hosts NME, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has allegedly claimed that he had never heard of Bring Me The Horizon before, but that “It was great, very rock ‘n’ roll.”
