NEWS: My Favourite Runner Up decide to part ways!

Welsh pop-punk upstarts My Favourite Runner Up have announced earlier today via their official Facebook page that they have decided to call it a day with the band, citing that recent changes within their line-up have made them feel that “continuing without them just wouldn’t be the same” and that it’s now “time to move on to new pastures”. You can read the statement posted by the band in its entirety below:

“Almost 10 years ago, four guys went to watch Simple Plan in Manchester and decided to form a band. Since then we have shared stages with some of our favourite bands, including Tonight Alive, Mallory Knox, Blitz Kids, Neck Deep, Madina Lake and Kids in Glass Houses to name a few. We have travelled thousands and thousands of miles together to play in front of some of the best people in the world who have now become our dear friends. During this time, we’ve released some terrible self recorded CDs as well as some stuff we are very very proud of. We will look back on these years with fond memories and sore heads, but we feel that almost 10 years after My Favourite Runner Up began, it is now time to call it a day.

Thank you to everyone who has in some way helped MFRU on our mission. We would have gotten nowhere without the people who bought our music and came to our shows, the people who booked us for those shows and even anyone who gave us a place to crash for the night. We’d also like to say a massive thanks to Amanda and the team at Possessive Management for all the help and guidance they have offered to us over the last few years. We couldn’t and wouldn’t have done it without any of you.

A lot has changed over the years. Our brother and original shredder Andy left us a few years back to start a new life down South. That same year Boots arrived on the scene, bringing a new found enthusiasm that has driven the band for the last few years. But recently with the departure of our rhythm section Lee and Tom, we feel that continuing without them just wouldn’t be the same. It’s time to move on to new pastures, which you’ll hear about very soon…

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING. It’s been a rollercoaster ride that we’ve never really thought about getting off until now.

Any news regarding any future projects from members of the band will be confirmed as and when they develop.
