British post-hardcore boys Shadows Chasing Ghosts received a more than warm reception with their debut full-length, ‘The Golden Ratio’. Coupled with several tour support slots and a headline tour or two of their own, the anticipation for even better results on album number two is unquestionable. With new material likely to crop up at their set at Hit The Deck Festival, we spoke with the guys to see what there is to expect from the new SCG and why we should make sure to catch their festival set:
DP!: How are you guys looking forward to playing at this year’s Hit The Deck Festival?
SCG: We can’t wait. We were at the festival last year and couldn’t help being insanely jealous of all the bands playing, so to be asked this year was a privilege.
DP!: There’s a lot of different bands on the line-up this year, is there anyone that you’re particularly excited to see or plan on catching?
SCG: Yeah, we’re unanimously really excited to see Of Mice & Men play, plus Yashin, POLAR., Bury Tomorrow, Cancer Bats and our friends in Campus. We’ve heard that The Black Youth are pretty decent live too.
DP!: You released your latest single ‘Lose The Attitude’ not too long ago, how did you find people reacted to the new material?
SCG: Really, really well. It’s been nice to see the reaction actually. You never know how people will react to new material, especially since we’ve had the line-up change and it being the first thing we’ve put out since then.
DP!: Speaking of new material, how is work coming along on the follow-up to your debut album, ‘The Golden Ratio’?
SCG: We’ve been working pretty solidly on it since we finished the last tour, and we’re pleased to be able to say that it’s nearly there. We’re actually heading back to the studio straight after Hit The Deck to finish it. Lots of good things are coming from May onwards.
DP!: With so many different bands on the line-up, why should people come and check you guys out?
SCG: Because ugly people need fans too, and because we’re going to be playing some brand new things from the album for the first time ever at Hit The Deck.
DP!: Will you guys be letting yourself loose at the after party?
SCG: You might see a few of us there sipping on a shandy or two. Who knows?
DP!: Finally, is there anything else that you’d like to add and share with our readers?
SCG: Just that we’re grateful for all the support you guys give us and we can’t wait to see you all very soon! #FAITHFULFEW
